An internship program for non-designers

Based in Detroit and focusing on non-design roles within the AEC industry, ABOVE THE FOLD offers internships to active students enrolled in an undergraduate program. Each position is a career-building opportunity for students who have an interest in architecture, public relations, business, and/or real estate, and the desire to gain work experience in a global industry. The ideal candidates are natural leaders and go-getters who want to be a part of envisioning, documenting, promoting, and advancing the built environment. Press Intern
In-Person in Detroit, MI, U.S.

With a background in writing, communications, public relations, or marketing, the Press Intern will collaborate on researching, synthesizing, and securing new press placements for ABOVE THE FOLD’s roster. The position’s core focus is to research, synthesize, present, track, and update target placements in media across the globe. Collaborating with the agency’s team, the Press Intern will learn the ins and outs of leading press campaigns for a variety of design talent and projects across many contexts, community, and cities. On a daily basis, the Press Intern will monitor and contribute to the development of timely and accurate press releases to secure short- and long-lead placements including print/online articles, awards, speaking engagements, conferences, exhibitions, events, and more.

Business Development Intern
In-Person in Detroit, MI, U.S.

With a background in economics, business, real estate, or marketing, the Business Development Intern will collaborate on sourcing, pursuing, and procuring new projects for ABOVE THE FOLD’s roster. The position’s core focus is to research, synthesize, present, track, and update leads for new projects across the globe. Collaborating with the agency’s team, the Business Development Intern will learn the ins and outs of pursuing design contracts for a variety of project types across many contexts, communities, and cities. On a daily basis, the Business Development Intern will monitor and contribute to the development of timely and accurate Request for Qualifications (RFQs) and Request for Proposals (RFPs) in pursuit of winning new projects aligned with our roster’s profiles, practices, portfolios, and potential.
